The Regional EHS Manager will coordinate all aspects of environmental, health and safety (EHS) management to successfully meet or exceed enterprise and business unit goals.
Scope/ Supervision and Interaction:
The EHS Manager-NA Region will report direct to the North America Operations Manager. This role will have no direct reports. This role has a dotted line relationship with Corporate EHS and other functional business unit leaders as well as EHS Managers within their business segment.
Scope includes the Braking Systems North America Region, including facilities in Mexico and the US (KY, OH, and CA). This position will have dotted line reporting relationships with the individual site EHS Managers and will interface with Regional, Division, and Group Leadership staff.
The EHS Manager is accountable to the Regional/Divisional Leadership for EHS performance and results.
Essential Functions:
- Expected to actively participate in the development and execution of Strategic planning and advance a Safety First Culture.
- Responsible for leading and executing EHS programs and procedures cascaded from Corporate, Group or Division to meet enterprise and business unit EHS objectives and targets with an emphasis on Safety and Accident Prevention, EHS Regulatory Compliance, Behavioral Safety programs, and Resource Conservation.
- Responsible for leading and execution of applicable EHS management systems which includes the Corporate EHS Directives, ISO 14001 certification, FAA & EASA Safety Management Systems, and any other applicable EHS management system certifications or elements.
- Responsible for EHS reporting which includes performance against targets and goals, regulatory reporting, and corporate, business unit and customer required reporting.
- Manages an EHS training program for applicable EHS training required across the business unit from employee to leader.
- Manages an EHS corrective action program which would include EHS audits, regulatory inspections, industrial accidents, customer EHS audits and other assessments that identify EHS issues that require corrective action with the exception of environmental remediation of property.
- Manages a resource conservation program which will include but not be limited to energy use, water use and waste generated from production.
- Leads an EHS program for change which includes new processes, equipment, materials and people.
- Manages or supports, as directed, for acquisitions, divestitures, facility closure and environmental remediation of property.
- Actively works with other functional leaders for integration of EHS into Lean, Quality, Supply Chain, HR, Sales, Service and Innovation. Leverage existing systems and procedures in those functional areas to the extent possible in EHS management.
- Leads by example to develop an EHS culture of excellence for safety and environmental management through effective communication.
- Manages the EHS aspects of contractors that do work on site.
- Supports the development and execution on EHS strategy for the business unit.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in a technical field such as EHS, engineering, or science
- 5+ years of applicable EHS experience
- Experience in an industrial work environment with EHS responsibilities
- A solid working knowledge of EHS regulations
- Experience in industrial safety management
- Experience with leading aspects of an EHS program
- Experience with resource conservation management
- EHS certifications a plus
- Must have good skills in leading and influencing change and be an agent of change management.
- Must be competent in developing a strategic plan
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and able to influence people at all levels
- Ability to comprehend and interpret applicable EHS requirements and translate them into the business language for clear understanding by the business unit leaders and employees
- Ability to learn and understand the business
- Strong process skills for standardization, continuous improvement and program management
- Passion for EHS and able to translate into practical action
- Good problem solving skills and experience
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to travel up to 25%, including international (Mexico)
