LSSI is hiring a full-time Families Together Child Therapist. As a member of the Families Together team, under the supervision of the Team Leader, provides immediate engagement with children entering foster care in order to help them understand what has happened and what is next as well as to conduct initial assessment of needs. Provides clinical interventions and/or coordinates interventions, including Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Acts as advocate for the child.

Essential Functions: 
  • Provides immediate engagement with children as then enter care, providing trauma-sensitive explanation of what has happened, set expectations along with the foster parent (routines, rules, etc.) and answer questions, including parent contacts.
  • Participate in supervisory process for guidance, direction, support and approval of decision making, assessment, treatment planning, and intervention with a licensed clinician.
  • Provides comprehensive assessment of client's physical, developmental and behavioral health. Provide DSM-5-TR diagnosis for assigned clients.
  • Participates in developing and individualized whole family treatment plan, in conjunction with Families Together team, child and family.
  • Delivers and/or coordinates needed services, which may include providing short-term TF-CBT therapy for the child and designated caretaker, usually the parents as reunification nears or providing other needed therapeutic interventions for the youth.
  • Assists with crisis management.
  • Completes and submits all required reports, documentation and billing accurately and timely through the use of the Electronic Health Record as required by the agency and funding services. Includes completion of written reports detailing client's progress as required by applicable policies and procedures, and/or when required by juvenile court.
Position Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in social work or related human services field.
  • Licensed clinical social work (LCSW) credential. (LMFT), (LCPC) or its equivalent or is eligible for a clinical license and able to work toward its completion (LPC or LSW).
  • Certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) or available to participate in TF-CBT training and certification.
  • Certified in IM+CANs or available to participate in IM+CANs training and certification.
  • All training is provided by LSSI.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear and comprehensive manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage children in a trauma sensitive and supportive fashion, including engaging in the assessment process.
  • Knowledge of DSM-5-TR/ICD 10 and their application, under the supervision of a licensed clinician.
  • Excellent communication, organization, presentation and pc/computer skills (including proficiency with Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) along with other related software.
  • Valid driver's license required to be able to fulfil travel requirements in the State of Illinois. Access to reliable transportation for meetings. Valid IL statutory minimum liability insurance coverage, bodily injury and property damage.
