JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Overview:

Expanding the bounds of our knowledge base within and surrounding the nursing discipline, we aim to build a robust community of researchers, educators, and scientists. As a result, the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing at the Pennsylvania State University is searching for tenure-line faculty members to join us at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.

Faculty Position:

Your work at Penn State will have a lasting impact and you will enjoy the benefit of being a part of Penn State's R1 research community. As an integral research faculty member in the Nese College of Nursing, you will be expected to direct a research program focused on nursing science and its translation to person-centered care across the lifespan and the health/wellness continuum. Our faculty teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses as well as supervise and mentor doctoral students. In addition, we expect our tenure track and tenured faculty to engage in outreach to disseminate research to stakeholders, including policymakers, nurses, and other practitioners at national, regional, and local conferences and meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants at the rank of Assistant Professor must have the following at the time of beginning the appointment:

  • Earneda doctorate or a degree equivalent to a Ph.D. in the United States, in nursing or a closely related discipline.

  • A valid United States nursing license.

  • A strong record of research and scholarly achievements.

  • Demonstrated commitment to, or vision for, building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community.

  • Evidence of, or potential for, receiving external research funding.

  • The following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

Applicants at the rank of Associate Professor should possess the same qualifications as Assistant Professor as well as:

  • Must show evidence of expertise in advancing science or theory and/or conducting an independent program of research (including serving as PI of funded grants and dissemination of research through presentations, scholarly publications, and directing research activities of others).

  • May also engage in team science or innovation/entrepreneurship that is aligned with their independent program of research. Team science should be impactful and scientifically rigorous with the same criteria of dissemination noted above.

Applicants at the rank of Professor should possess the same qualifications as Associate Professor as well as:

  • Must have demonstrated and sustained productivity in research and scholarly activities, recognized leadership in professional organizations and learned societies, and national recognition as a leader in their area of research.

  • May also engage in or assume a leadership role in team science or innovation/entrepreneurship, as articulated above, and extending to the level of full professorship that is aligned with their program of research.

Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing:

The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing is one of the most comprehensive nursing colleges in any public university in the United States. With over $17 million in research expenditures since the college's inception in 2013, the college has been awarded over $8 million for gerontology research, over $4 million for the development of a sexual assault forensic examination telehealth center (SAFE-T Center), and approximately $1.5 million to support clinical and translational science. The Nese College of Nursing resides primarily at the University Park Campus.
