Job Title: GCP Architect

Location(s): San Francisco, CA

We are seeking a GCP Architect with expertise in Istio to oversee and assist in building Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) for a cloud-native environment. This role will be critical in extending Istio's capabilities within Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), focusing on networking, security, and automation for our client.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and manage CRDs to extend Istio's functionality for GKE-based applications.
  • Create OpenAPI v3 schemas to validate custom resources.
  • Implement Kubernetes Operators to automate workflows.
  • Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines and integrate GitOps practices.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize GKE environments, ensuring service mesh performance.
  • Oversee more junior level resources and provide quality assurance on the work of team members.
  • Works directly with senior stakeholders to manage project expectations and provide delivery updates.


Qualifications:


  • Experienced in working extensively with Kubernetes and GKE.
  • Strong knowledge of Istio (e.g., Envoy, VirtualService, DestinationRule).
  • Proficiency with OpenAPI v3, Helm, and Kubernetes resource validation.
  • Experience with Go or Python for developing custom controllers.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes Operators (Kubebuilder, Operator SDK).
  • Familiarity with GitOps, CI/CD, and cloud platforms like GCP.
