Position Summary
The R&D Project Coordinator position is responsible for coordinating development projects, product concept and design development, sustainment activities, and supporting R&D departmental initiatives. This position serves to bridge external consumer needs to internal development, ideation, and commercial production.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Execute New Product Management process for assigned projects, including planning and coordination of resources to achieve project goals and deadlines.
- Serve as the main point of contact for project stakeholders. Provide regular updates and manage expectations through clear and consistent communication.
- Coordination and development of design concepts and prototypes for new products and product improvements.
- Create and manage item specifications and associated SAP Master Data.
- Develop test strategies and test plans to verify standards, compatibility, functionality, performance and reliability.
- Validate proper design and operations of product satisfy user needs .
- Perform research and competitive analysis in coordination with local and global product managers to stay ahead of market advancements & trends in patient therapy, fabrication, and technology as applicable.
- Support R&D Change Control activities.
- Evaluate new product/materials applications to improve cost, reduce environmental impact, or improve quality of products .
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BS Degree in engineering; textile engineering, textile chemistry, or equivalent directly-related work experience a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in Product Development or Project Management; medical device industry experience a plus.
- Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software preferred; SAP experience a plus.
- Experience with design software such as Adobe Illustrator or Optitex preferred .
- Experience with Focus Groups, user experience testing, & product evaluations a plus.
- Experience & knowledge of medical device regulations, GMP, QSR, ISO quality requirements a plus.
Physical Demands:
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, and photocopiers, as well as laboratory test equipment, such as tensile tester.
- Travel as necessary, up to 10%.
- Lift 25 lbs.
- This is a full-time position, occasional long hours as required.
