Job Description |
Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.
Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400
enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses.
Virginia Western Community College (
VWCC) is accepting applications for a Financial Aid Liaison position in the Financial Aid Office. The Financial Aid Liaison specializes in Pell Grant support and is responsible for assisting Pell-eligible students throughout the financial aid process, ensuring they receive the necessary guidance to access and maintain their financial aid. This non-exempt position focuses on providing personalized support, improving student retention, and enhancing financial literacy among Pell Grant recipients.
This is a restricted, classified position dependent upon the conditions of the
SCHEV Pell Boost Initiative grant. The position is funded through June 30, 2028. |
Special Assignments |
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. |

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding and inclusion
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks; work in a demanding, fast-paced environment with changing priorities; and adhere to required timelines meeting work priorities and objectives
- Demonstrated proficiency using Office 365, Google Suite, and related applications
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment

- Ability to track program outcomes, set measurable objectives, and work toward those targets
- Flexibility to work during evening and weekend hours as needed to meet project deadlines and organizational goals.
