We are seeking a new team member to fill a large project engineering support role in the Manufacturing Technical Center. This position can be home based. The position will report to the Process Engineering Leader and will collaborate with multiple groups and disciplines throughout operations and engineering to improve asset performance, process safety, and reliability.

The Utilities Balance of Plant Engineering Specialist will utilize PBM and Frameworks to proactively support the development and execution of transformative projects for the Georgia Pacific manufacturing operations. This role will be responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders to drive results, creating superior value to meet GP's manufacturing vision.

What You Will Do

* Focus on project Balance of Plant (BOP) or Outside the Boundary Limit (OSBL) distribution and interconnection of steam, power, air, water, fuel, and other utilities to safely and reliably support mill operations.
* Lead coordination between the PP&R Project Engineering, Small Project Teams, mill site engineering, and PP&R COE discipline teams for resource loading of capital projects.
* Ensure that GP discipline engineering quality standards, deliverables, and key design parameters are well defined and fulfilled in all phases of capital project execution.
* Confirm the integrity of engineering project process scope definition and execution to meet business goals.
* Promote Environmental, Health and Safety in all activities with the objective of achieving zero significant incidents.
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of engineers, designers, and suppliers to develop transformative projects for the GP businesses.
* Collaborate with Technology Center subject matter experts (SMEs), Collaboration and Support Center (CSC), and other support teams to develop business cases that support the investment strategy for all GP businesses.
* Develop strong relationships with constituents in Operations, Engineering, and Business teams.
* Develop mutually beneficial supplier relationships that allow GP to lead the industry in technology applications and cost-effective system designs.
* Identify, develop, and/or review appropriate equipment specifications, engineering standards, and codes of design.
* Proven capability of leading through influence; working with and through large cross-functional teams.
* Demonstrated project/program engineering experience with mill utilities (air, water, fuel, steam, power etc.), preferably with large capital projects.
* Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization and with external suppliers.
* Strong financial and analytical skills, with ability to collect, distill, and analyze data to identify key insights.
* Ability to recognize potential issues, identify alternatives, and make/justify recommendations.
* Demonstrated team/group facilitation experience - meetings, knowledge sharing, problem solving, gaining consensus path forward, etc.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a preference of Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Pulp and Paper Science.
* Demonstrated mechanical and electrical systems experience
* Knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of the design, construction, operation and maintenance of assets in scope of responsibility.
* Demonstrated experience in process improvement and process optimization.
* Demonstrated experience in large projects and implementation of project activities.
* Ability to travel at least 50%
