Responsibilities

The Specialty Pharmacy Pharmacist Supervisor reports to the Regional Manager of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services and oversees a team of embedded specialty pharmacists who manage patients starting or currently receiving specialty medications. This role involves collaborating with prescribers in outpatient clinics to monitor medication therapy, identifying and addressing significant drug-drug, drug-diet, or drug-laboratory test interactions, and intervening when therapeutic duplications or complex pharmacokinetic issues arise. The supervisor ensures effective communication with prescribers regarding potential problems and solutions, documents patient interactions across various platforms, and educates patients and their families about their specific medications.



Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

Required qualifications:

    Current state Registered Pharmacist License.
  1. B.S. in Pharmacy or PharmD degree required.
  2. PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency required (significant experience may be considered in lieu of residency)
  3. 3 years of experience with at least 3 years specialty pharmacy, retail pharmacy, or pharmacy benefit management (PBM) required.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  5. Requires demonstrated leadership ability and experience working with staff, physicians, and patients.
  6. Experience with Employee Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs or equivalent services required.

Preferred qualification:

  1. Expertise in 340B program operations and compliance preferred.
  2. Proficiency in EPIC electronic medical records (EMR) system preferred.
  3. Advanced knowledge and experience in specialty areas such as hepatology, rheumatology, neurology, oncology, etc. preferred.
