The Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences (
https://thcas.ecu.edu/) is home to 16 academic departments including the Department of Psychology, a number of research centers, as well as over twenty inter and multi-disciplinary programs (

The Department of Psychology (
http://psychology.ecu.edu) has 30 full-time faculty members, over 800 undergraduate majors, and a master's program with several concentrations as well as a Specialist-level program in School Psychology. The Department also has a doctoral program in Health Psychology with three separate concentrations - Clinical Health Psychology, Pediatric School Psychology, and Occupational Health Psychology. Both the Clinical Health Psychology and Pediatric School Psychology concentrations are accredited by the American Psychological Association. The Health Psychology program is a current and past recipient of a Health Resources and Services Administration (
HRSA) Graduate Psychology Education training grant. The Department is also experiencing an unprecedented level of investment from the State of North Carolina in its clinical health psychology and pediatric school psychology doctoral programs and psychology clinic associated with these programs (
https://psychology.ecu.edu/pass/). Faculty routinely collaborate with colleagues throughout the schools and colleges of
ECU and have established strong connections with ECU's School of Dental Medicine, College of Education, and various departments in Brody School of Medicine, including Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, and Cardiology.

Job Duties |
A tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor or a tenured Associate Professor position in any area within adult or child clinical health psychology or pediatric school psychology, beginning August 2025. The successful applicant will develop an active research program with high potential to secure extramural funding, contribute to the doctoral concentrations in Pediatric School and/or Clinical Health Psychology by supervising graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, including clinical practice, and conduct clinically-related research (e.g., research applied to a clinical problem within the realm of health psychology and/or health behavior with adult or child populations).The candidate will affiliate with the psychology department clinic (

Minimum Education/Experience |
A PhD or equivalent is required from an
APA-accredited program.
Applicants must hold a license in psychology, be license-eligible, or have completed a postdoctoral psychology position by the start date. For appointment as an Assistant Professor, candidates must have a conferred PhD and indicators for success in building a robust, independent research program, effective teaching and advising, and service to the department.
For appointment as an Associate Professor, candidates must fulfill the requirements of the appointment of Assistant Professor, including a conferred PhD, and demonstrate consistent achievements in research productivity, teaching, and professional service that would further enhance the reputation of the university. Applicants seeking tenure at initial appointment must have a distinguished and sustained record of teaching, research, and service, which meet criteria in the departmental unit code. |
