Job Description

This position is linked to LPN - Student Health Center (MU) Job ID 54336 and the department will only hire for one role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care Support:
    Escort patients to exam rooms, take vital signs, gather health history, and assist with patient preparations for their visits. You'll help set the tone for each patient's visit by providing a welcoming and compassionate experience.
  • Clinical Assistance:
    Assist healthcare providers during exams and procedures, helping to ensure smooth operations and the best possible patient outcomes.
  • Laboratory Support:
    Collect and prepare lab specimens, conduct point-of-care testing, and draw blood when needed. You will also perform general laboratory duties as directed to support ongoing patient care needs.
  • Medication and Immunizations:
    Administer medications and immunizations per provider orders, contributing directly to patient wellness.
  • Patient Education:
    Provide important patient education materials and respond to inquiries in a professional, approachable manner, ensuring that patients understand their care and feel confident in their treatment plans.
  • Clean and Maintain Exam Rooms:
    Keep exam rooms stocked, clean, and ready for patient use, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for both patients and staff.
  • Inventory and Equipment Maintenance:
    Maintain stock levels of clinic supplies, order new materials as required, and ensure equipment is functioning optimally by following instructions and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Professional Communication:
    Communicate effectively with patients, team members, and supervisors in a professional, respectful manner. Maintain confidentiality and uphold high standards of care.
  • Training and Development:
    Provide in-service training and precepting for new or less-experienced team members as directed, helping to foster a supportive, collaborative team environment.

Minimum Qualifications

One of the following certifications:

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) by the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)

Medical Assistant Certification (MAC) by the American Medical Certification

Anticipated Hiring Range

Range: $15.15 - $23.32 per hour paid on a bi-weekly basis

PAT Level: PAT 04

University Title: CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Physical Demands
