Job Summary

Reporting to the Materials Planning Supervisor within a Service Organization, the Material Planner is the analytical, executional, and communicative arm of the Supply Chain planning function. This role is responsible for balancing the needs of our financial stakeholders, supply base capabilities, and our deliveries to our customers. It is the stated intent of this role to maximize our customer fill rate performance while optimizing our inventory holdings, replenishment costs, and system utilization. The Material Planner is a key conduit of information exchange between operations (Technician and Dispatch), Purchasing, and Supply Chain peers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitors demand forecasts and inventory levels to identify changes and determines their effect on production plans.
  • Collaborates with cross functional partners to ensure inventory is managed according to constraints and targets that are aligned with the business strategy.
  • Identifies possible future capacity constraints and bottlenecks and addresses with the Smart Care Purchasing team.
  • Establishes critical inventory parameters for Target & Safety Stock settings for finished goods, while considering supply lead time, warehouse, and transportation constraints.
  • Reviews and analyzes line capacity to determine whether alternate sourcing is required.
  • Actively interacts with operations, quality, warehousing, and transportation to understand abnormal part usage patterns.
  • Manages the escalation process and develops/monitors contingency planning protocols.
  • Measures, analyzes, and reports key process metrics, while monitoring adherence to key performance indicators (KPI) that are assigned to the assigned product categories.
  • Identifies possible material shortages against inventory plans and develops action items. Coordinates with peers and superiors to resolve.
  • Timely reconciliation of inventory (annual physical and cycle count) processes and necessary adjustments.
  • Engages with the Inventory Control Specialist in the planning and execution of both annual and cycle count inventories.
  • As a key metric, works to support the prompt resolution to any Parts Billed / Not Installed issues.
  • Own the communication between their assigned market Technicians, their District Managers, and Dispatches, as appropriate. Make it happen.
  • Treat every inventory transaction as if it was from your own personal bank account. Hold yourself and others to the same standard.

Qualifications and Competencies

Education, Licenses, Skills

B.S in applicable field, MBA preferred, or greater than 10 years of relevant experience

Identifies critical constraints to executing plans and develops strategies to deal with the constraints. Prepares highly complex estimates of budget, staff, and other resources.

Manage Execution - Demonstrated results indicating deep knowledge of managing execution Coordinates performance across regions, teams, and departments on complex projects and work- flows. Applies a broad range of planning and monitoring tools Defines planning and review practices that result in few missed milestones and minimal surprises. Effectively delegates to ensure completion of complex projects and work. Monitors progress of others and redirects efforts when goals change or are not met. Measures effectiveness of execution through defined metrics and disciplined monitoring.

Coach And Develop - Solid understanding of coaching and development skills and tools. Coaches and develops direct reports and or project team members on basic performance issues and development needs. Dedicates appropriate time when coaching and developing others. Utilizes structured approach and appropriate tools when coaching and developing others. Provides relevant assignments to direct reports that address individual development needs.

Scope Management - Manages a list of project deliverables (scope) using the recommended project management tools and processes to ensure that the project includes all the work required and only the work required to complete the project successfully.

Experience

Greater than ten (10) years of relevant work experience, including team leadership experience, required.

Certification

Supply Chain Certifications - the successful applicant should possess, be working towards, and/or possess the skills and capabilities equivalent to obtaining nationally recognized certification from the Institute for Supply Management (www.ismworld.com).

Change Management - the successful applicant must be willing to invest time and commitment towards being a champion of change management across the Supply Chain and supporting organizations within Smart Care.

Travel Requirement

  • Travel will be almost exclusively North America based.
  • Anticipated travel is dependent upon service organization.
  • Average 10% (2 days per month) with potential to grow to 25% (1 week per month), on exception.

Office Location Offering(s)

  • Requested work location is on-site at Horizon Bradco Office location.
  • Domestic relocation will be considered.
