The Certified Recovery Specialist will provide support and assistance to program clients with the ultimate goal of successful community-integration. Through formal and informal interactions, the Peer Recovery Specialist should inspire hope of recovery by promoting empowerment, self-determination, understanding, coping skills, and resiliency through mentoring as well as service coordination. Peer recovery support responsibilities are designed around the principles of consumer choice and the active involvement of persons in their own recovery process.

The Certified Recovery Specialist will provide support and assistance to program clients with the ultimate goal of successful community-integration. Through formal and informal interactions, the Peer Recovery Specialist should inspire hope of recovery by promoting empowerment, self-determination, understanding, coping skills, and resiliency through mentoring as well as service coordination. Peer recovery support responsibilities are designed around the principles of consumer choice and the active involvement of persons in their own recovery process.

  • Meets with treatment applicants for the purpose of orienting them to the recovery model of care with the goal of facilitating engagement.

  • Conducts individual and group sessions focusing on principles of recovery.

  • Advises clients of available service options and choices

  • Promotes the utilization of natural resources within the community.

  • Contacts patients whose engagement appears to waver.

  • Maintains intensive recovery contact with patients completing a course of care and ensuring the ongoing availability of support as needed.

Education/Training:

HS Diploma or equivalent required. Some college courses and or an associate or bachelor's degree preferred. Completion of a period of Certified Recovery Specialist training preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registration:

Recovery or Peer Support Specialist Certification required.

Experience:

Related background experience in case management, and/or counseling preferred.

Two-year history of sustained behavioral health recovery.
