Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Correctional Food Manager II (CFMII), the Office Technician (Typing) will regularly perform complex secretarial duties and consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence and originality in performing assigned tasks. The Office Technician (Typing) is responsible for maintaining safety and security within all areas in range of vision. Will assist Supervisors and staff in accomplishing tasks. The Office Technician (T) handles sensitive issues with employees utilizing good judgement, and the ability to communicate concisely and effectively is required. The Office Technician (T) independently composes and proofreads various memoranda and documents utilizing knowledge and application of regulations, policies, and procedures; maintain status of purchase orders, reconcile stock received reports with orders completed. Assist with vendors, record weekly meeting minutes, monthly employee timekeeping, performance reports, answer telephone calls, scan and file documents. At times you will be required to type confidential memorandums and are required to keep confidentiality. You are also responsible for timely and quality production of assigned tasks; the overall cleanliness of your area and organization and filing of all documents in the food service department. The OT independently reviews assigned tasks, developing methods of performing tasks in a proficient and efficient manner. This position requires proficient knowledge of, but not limited to the use of software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, TEAMS and Adobe Acrobat. The OT must possess the ability to grow, adapt and learn new programs pertinent to Food Service. At all times, the OT will exhibit effective time management with Food Service's fast paced environment.

  • The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
