Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Development Assistant for the Dean's Office within the Graduate School of Education. Reporting to the Senior Department Administrator Supervisor, the Development Assistant will research, compile, assimilate, proofread, and edit correspondence, documents, and reports for department heads as needed.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Drafts correspondence and stewardship materials, including acknowledgement donation letters, and emails to donors, members, and foundations.
- Assists in scheduling and prospect outreach.
- Provides planning and logistical support for events.
- Supports GSE Alumni engagement.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- A bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates general knowledge, skill, and understanding of development, volunteer management, customer service/public relations, event execution, office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, and/or report writing.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Highly organized and excellent time management skills with proven ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with customer service orientation.
- Computer literacy to include industry standard software, with ability to learn proprietary systems.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in higher education and development, with a critical understanding of the relationship between academic administration and fundraising and alumni engagement functions.
- They will demonstrate an ability to be detail-oriented and have a proven track record of project management.
- Superior writing skills are expected, as are professionalism and the ability to interact with colleagues and high-net-worth individuals.
- They will be proactive in executing projects as assigned, and capable of facilitating workflow to aid the GSE in an efficient and transparent manner.
- The successful candidate will have a high degree of comfort in taking limited information and translating it into actionable plans and outcomes.
- They will lead with an attitude that engenders confidence with other members of the GSE community.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function.
|
Equipment Utilized |
- Competence with following computer programs is necessary: MS Office (including Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint), database design, teleconferencing applications (Zoom, WebEx, Teams), web navigation, and internet search.
- Prior experience with Affiniquest and Tableau is preferred, but not required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
- This position requires little physical effort.
- The Development Assistant may be asked to work evenings, weekends, or odd hours to meet resource-raising commitments.
- This position requires some early mornings and late evenings to accommodate meetings, travel, events, and external constituent's schedules.

Special Conditions |
- This position will work closely with Rutgers Foundation, with a dotted line into the organization, to carry out tasks needed to help the GSE achieve outreach and fundraising goals.
