Our department is a large and complex organization supporting over 8,700 on-campus residents among 49 traditional halls, suites, and apartments, some of which were constructed for the 1996 Summer Olympics. Our team of 200+ professional staff and 300+ student staff from six departments support residents directly and indirectly with their unique talents. We are housed within the Student Engagement and Well-Being division, that includes many student service offices.

Housing and Residence Life offers quality, safe, well-maintained residential facilities. We encourage, promote, and facilitate customer-focused programs and services that attract students to our facilities and Georgia Tech. We provide physical, programmatic, and technological systems to enhance the quality of life on campus, support the academic needs of resident students, and complement the academic goals of the institute.

Oversee the financial and budget planning. Manage the development, administration, review, and reporting of annual budgets. Responsible for setting employee and group goals, deciding on the organizational structure to meet the goals, assessing employee and/or group performance, providing feedback, and making pay arrangements.

• This position will interact on a regular basis with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
• This position typically advises and counsels executives and financial administration. This position will supervise assigned staff.

Job Duty 1 -

Advise department and unit leadership on budgetary and financial strategies.

Job Duty 2 -

Collaborate and strategize with unit leadership on direction for financial administration.

Job Duty 3 -

Participate in the strategic planning process with department leadership, providing financial and budget-related input and recommendations.

Job Duty 4 -

Develop department and unit tools to assist in financial assessments, problem resolution, and response to requests for information.

Job Duty 5 -

Prepare and provide periodic financial projections and historical trend analysis in order to monitor departmental and unit financial performance.

Job Duty 6 -

Oversee funding, budgeting, and state revenue allocation.

Job Duty 7 -

Perform ongoing and ad hoc financial analyses and report results.

Job Duty 8 -

Provide financial management support and guidance for decision-making in research administration.

Job Duty 9 -

Coordinate and direct training and support for assigned personnel.

Job Duty 10 -

Perform other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience

Eight years of job-related experience

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Master's of Business Administration (MBA)

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Pay Range: $108,010-$146,894/yr

SKILLS

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate within all levels of the organization, strong analytical skills, and self-starter with a willingness to take ownership of a problem until it is solved. Experience with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) with emphasis on section 31.2, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
