Organizational Unit Overview
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine (herein referred to as Psychiatry) exists as a coequal department with full departmental status within the organizational structure of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine is dedicated to providing excellence in education, patient care, research, and service in mental health. We strive to foster a collaborative environment committed to improving the health and well being of the people of eastern North Carolina and beyond. We support and advance evidence-based practice, sound scientific principles, and compassion in addressing the needs of our learners, our patients, our colleagues, and our community. The Department ensures that the academic mission of the Brody School of Medicine is met while providing excellent patient care at our primary teaching facility, ECU Health Medical Center and several on-campus and satellite outpatient clinics. These clinics are located in Greenville and across eastern North Carolina.
Job Duties
The Assistant Residency Training Coordinator has responsibilities for working with the Residency Training coordinator and Program Director with the day-to-day administration of the resident training program. The assistant coordinator reports to the Program Director, Office of Graduate Medical Education, Department Administrator, and also functions as a liaison between the Office of Graduate Medical Education, other BSOM departments, Residents, Department Administration, remote training sites, various ECU Health Medical Center administrative departments, and the Residency Training Director and Associate Residency Training Director. As one of the primary contacts for the residents, the assistant coordinator is responsible for assisting the Residency Training Coordinator for implementation and reporting of various program requirements, interpreting, and communicating policy, and developing solutions for unprecedented or unusual problems. In addition, 40% of the position is to provide support to for clinical operations as the Outpatient Clinic Coordinator, this portion of the position manages the daily operations of the Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic, assuring that the facilities are operational, and that all policies and procedures of the university relating to purchasing, travel, etc. are adhered to and properly administered.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
