Requirements Engineer, Assoc Principal - DHS Suitability Clearance

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a skilled Requirements Engineer with expertise in HIPAA compliance and NIST security frameworks to support our government customer's electronic Health Record (eHR) strategy.

Responsibilities of a Requirements Engineer include:

• Conducting capability analysis to document functional requirements for a unified eHR system
• Addressing EMR gaps with emphasis on real-time decision support and secure data sharing
• Defining requirements for teleconsultation, mobile access, and clinical alerts
• Facilitating requirements-gathering sessions at CBP sites to capture user needs
• Documenting mission-aligned requirements for CBP's eHR strategy
• Providing technical insights to shape the eHR strategic roadmap
• Ensuring compliance, interoperability, and privacy per DHS and CBP standards
• Preparing acquisition documents, such as the Operational Requirements Document
• Aligning documentation with CBP's operational and healthcare objectives
• Defining AWS-specific requirements for real-time support and data sharing
• Translating operational needs into AWS-compatible specifications
• Focusing on AWS requirements for mobile access, alerts, and teleconsultation
• Providing compliance and security guidance for AWS integration roadmap
• Drafting AWS-focused acquisition documents aligned with CBP standards

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 12+ years in requirements engineering, health systems, and federal compliance.
• Proficiency in analysis, documentation, and federal acquisition processes.
• Strong knowledge of AWS architecture and healthcare interoperability.
• Familiarity with IT security frameworks, including HIPAA and NIST.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary/hourly range for this position is $145,000- $165,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
