Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate within the Division of Medical Informatics, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
The Postdoctoral Associate in the group of the Principal Investigator will be involved in cancer research at Rutgers, and in this role will advance knowledge for better diagnosis, stratification, and treatment of cancer. Dr. De's group has particular interest in cancer evolution, cancer progression, and treatment, and the candidate is expected to contribute in one or more of these areas. There will be opportunities to work in an interdisciplinary team both in clinical and research settings on a variety of high impact, cutting edge projects. Among the key duties for this position are the following:
- Performs research for better diagnosis, stratification, and treatment of cancer in the settings of basic and translational research.
- Writes publications and reports of the research.
- Gives oral presentations of the research at seminars and meetings.
- Understands and adheres to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Understands, demonstrates and models the Rutgers Cancer Institute core values.
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers's compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Interest policy.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- PhD in a relevant science.
- Qualified candidates must be in the process of completing or have finished the training for Ph.D. and/or M.D. Candidates must provide proof all requirements have been fulfilled before their position start date.

- Effective oral and communication skills.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Must have team working, problem solving skills, and adaptability to changes in technological and scientific directions.

Preferred Qualifications |
- PhD in biology, biotechnology, pharmacology, computational, statistical, mathematical sciences, or related areas, preferred.
- Candidates who have experience working with next generation sequencing datasets, integrative analysis of large datasets, and running software on a cluster. Exposure to cancer genomics data is also preferred.

- Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements.
- Primarily working with computers. Laboratory environment. Moderate noise. Potential exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic or hazardous molecules and possible exposure to infectious and communicable pathogens. Universal precautions are mandatory.
