Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The School of Nursing (
SON), within the College of Health and Human Services (
CHHS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (
UNCW) invites applications for full-time, clinical track 9-month faculty positions.
These are spring 2025 semester hires starting in May 2025 to support a 12-month program; summer teaching is required in these positions for additional compensation. It is expected that these appointments will be converted to 12-month clinical track faculty positions within one to three years.
Clinical track faculty may be hired as clinical instructors (
MSN prepared) or clinical assistant professors (doctorally prepared) on a contract of up to 5 years that is renewable based on performance. Clinical track faculty are eligible for promotion to higher clinical track ranks. Appointment to rank is dependent on qualifications relative to the university, college, and school standards.
The primary teaching responsibilities will be assigned across the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. In addition, clinical track faculty have expectations related to advising/mentoring students, scholarship, performing professional and community service and outreach, and contributing to ongoing program evaluation and improvement depending on their rank. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
- A master's degree in nursing OR doctoral degree in nursing OR a doctorate in a related discipline with a baccalaureate or graduate degree in nursing at the time of application.
- Applicants for these positions should demonstrate the potential for high-quality teaching.
- A current RN license in NC or eligibility for licensure in NC.

The School of Nursing (
SON) within the College of Health and Human Services (
CHHS)at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (
UNCW) has an outstanding legacy of serving the people of southeastern North Carolina through education, scholarship, and service. The
SON is dedicated to excellence in the development of healthcare professionals through in-depth education, professional partnerships, applied research, regional engagement, and community outreach and impact. The
SON is a National League of Nursing Center of Excellence in Nursing Education, specifically in the area of promoting the pedagogical expertise of faculty. The
SON is located in McNeill Hall, a state-of-the-art facility that includes offices, classrooms, a large lecture hall, computer laboratories, student success areas and learning commons, and the Simulation Learning Center. The Simulation Learning Center uses high, medium, and low-fidelity human patient simulators as teaching and learning tools for nursing education. Through the use of simulation, we strive to create a realistic environment and a powerful learning experience that promotes the cognitive, affective, physical, and social development of the student as well as the incorporation of inter-professional collaborative experiences for students across the degree programs in the College. The
SON offers the following degree and certificate programs:
Nursing:
- BS in Nursing (Prelicensure, RN-BSN, Accelerated)
- MS in Nursing (Nurse Educator), Nurse Educator Certificate
- DNP
BSN to DNP (Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult/Gero Nurse Practitioner) MSN to DNP (Nurse Executive Leadership and Post-APRN concentrations)
Over 1800 nursing students are enrolled in programs within the
SON. The
SON has over 85 full-time faculty and employs over 60 part-time faculty per semester. |

The College of Health and Human Services was created in July 2010 to provide
UNCW with a new mechanism to link and focus its health-related research, professional continuing education, and health knowledge dissemination and application. In the formative stage of development, the
