Parking and Transportation Services

Background
Parking and Transportation Services is a self-supporting unit of the University of Minnesota within Auxiliary Services. The department is responsible for the administration, operation and maintenance of reliable and efficient transportation services on the Twin Cities campus including transit, parking, fleet, streets, walkways and way-finding. PTS supports alternatives to the single-occupant vehicle and promotes programs to encourage the University community to walk, bike, carpool, or take the bus.

Facilitating safe and effective integrated transportation systems that provide services for
pedestrians, bicycles, transit and vehicles.

Responsibilities

45% Operate office computer programs for Parking Operations Support
Use a web interface for specialized PARCS (Parking Access Revenue control System) to assist, troubleshoot, and communicate with customers.
Use Google suites to document and manage operational issues
Receive, process, and create electronic parking validation and voucher requests. Troubleshoot issues with parking validations.
Work with supervisors to maintain the best control possible at parking facilities.
Use parking access control system to adjust space count and access system
Monitors video system for issues and maintenance concerns in University parking facilities.
Provide direction and training/orientation to student supervisors.

35 % Customer Service
Answer, by phone, questions and concerns related to automated pay stations in parking
facilities, respond to or initiate inquiries, and explain policies and procedures.
o Includes 35 parking facilities with 165 automated pay stations, each processing hundreds
of transactions a day.
Utilize departmental PARCS (Parking Access Revenue Control System) to monitor space,
adjust counts and provide usable space to all users of parking facilities.
Provide back-up assistance to customer service and staff support functions.
o Answer questions from staff regarding assignment and procedure.
o Other duties as assigned.

20% Coordinate Efforts to Operate and Maintain Facilities
Act as primary contact from operations to maintenance office to follow-up on status of repairs and malfunctions of equipment as reported by operations staff in the field
Report maintenance issues utilizing the computerized maintenance system and monitor the
resolution progress.
Report and log automated pay machine

Work Environment
The work is performed in an office setting.

Salary Range: C4/28
Status: Nonexempt

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
High-school diploma or equivalent, with two years of office experience in a call center
environment dealing with the public.
Excellent communication skills.
Positive customer service and public contact experience.
Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a parking program.
Experience at a university or a campus setting.
Experience in customer service over the phone.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $45,115-$48,000 depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
