Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Program Director / Dean SNHS, the Manager of Clinical Education is responsible for the clinical education component of the pre-licensure nursing program and other assigned programs. This position provides leadership by managing the daily administrative and operational aspects of clinical education, including labs and simulations. Clinical education is an integral component of the University nursing curriculum. The Manager of Clinical Education will teach in lab/simulation/clinical and will participate in service to the Department and/or University.

Starting Salary: $95,000-100,000 annualized (based on experience).

Duties & Responsibilities:

Manager Activities/Responsibilities



  • Plans, coordinates, facilitates, administers, monitors, and evaluates clinical education activities on behalf of the academic program and in coordination with academic faculty.


  • Monitors student progress and assesses performance. Provides guidance and support as required to problem-solve and discuss pertinent issues with student(s), faculty, and academic leadership.
  • Identifies and utilizes university resources to assist with meeting clinical education program needs or resolving issues effectively.


  • Collaborate with faculty to develop scholarly activities (such as research and quality improvement activities) to showcase and evaluate the impact and outcomes of simulation on nursing education.


  • Ensures the quality of clinical experiences in the clinical lab, simulation center, and clinical rotations to support the achievement of student learner outcomes aligned with nursing professional standards and guidelines, including INACSL.


  • Provide leadership to faculty in the SON in the utilization of simulation to enhance and ensure the educational competence of learners across specialties and programs.


  • Collaborates with the program director and dean to promote, coordinate, plan, and provide faculty development opportunities using effective instructional methodologies and technologies.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends in health care and their effect on clinical education and apprises faculty and leadership of any changing trends.


  • Makes recommendations regarding curriculum to faculty based on feedback from affiliates and analysis of clinical education data collected.

Duties Required of the Clinical Faculty (with an emphasis in Lab/Simulation/Clinical) -Certain duties are additionally required of all faculty and are not given formal workload credit but will be included in yearly evaluations. These include but are not limited to:





    • Active participation in campus life to sustain a high level of facilitated learning
    • Participation in program governance, including program-based committees, with the exception of SERC
    • Active participation in program and campus activities (including scheduled and impromptu meetings of faculty, staff, and students)
    • Picking up and promptly responding to paper, voice, and electronic mail and messages
    • Visibility and accessibility supporting a sense of community
    • Regular accessibility either by person, by telephone, and/or virtually to students, colleagues, and the greater University community
    • Posting of schedules, office hours, and procedures for making appointments on the faculty member's door or online
    • Attendance and participation in program, department, faculty, and Faculty Assembly meetings
    • Responding in a timely fashion to students' requests for meetings, telephone calls, and to e-mail communications
    • Participating in Faculty Assembly and program faculty meetings
    • Participation in hiring faculty
    • Participation in developing, revising, and coordinating clinical education curriculum and maintaining program vitality
    • Participation in processes to improve the quality of school/college, campus, and University experience
    • Participation in, selection, admission, and retention of new students, including attendance at admissions open houses, participating in admission interviews, and new student orientation
    • Submittal of attendance for lab/clinical

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate degree in nursing with a doctorate degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred. Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.

Experience: Adequate years of experience in the areas involved in assignments; Nursing - minimum of two years of full-time registered nursing clinical experience and a minimum of two years of full-time experience in the area of expertise in Lab/Simulation/Clinical. Education - documented potential in the areas of facilitating learning, scholarship, and service, as applicable to assignments; and if appropriate, a record of meritorious performance of the duties and obligations of an instructor. Previous experience in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating simulation scenarios, lab experiences, and clinicals preferred. Recent clinical experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, etc.: Unencumbered RN licensure in Arizona or multi-state compact license. Additional licenses may be required. Certified Nurse Educator, Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator, or certification in a specialty area preferred. Other: Criminal background check and meet all requirements of clinical partners.
