The Channing Division of Network Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston are looking for exceptional candidates to join the Bioinformatics Core. The core works involves a wide variety of data management challenges of complex data sets, including genomic scale next-generation sequencing data and Data processing or curation. Our projects involve interrogation of the genome, transcriptome and epigenome data utilizing machine learning analysis tools and data analysis pipelines.
The Bioinformation will be developing and supporting the complex bioinformatics infrastructure needed for the wide range of data collection, transformation of data, and analysis requirements that will integrate across a wide range of skills and techniques. The Bioinformation is required to design, create, support tools and software analysis pipelines including secure dissemination of information generated.

Qualifications

MS in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or biological engineering; Applicants will have understanding programming with agile development methods

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to apply statistical and machine learning techniques to solve 'big data' problems
  • Experience in Programing withR, Python [Pandas]
  • Understanding the user of bioinformatics tools including common NGS tools [BWA, samtools, GATK]
  • Understanding the user of bioinformatics tools including common OMICs Data [dna, rna, methylation, 16S, metabolomics]
  • Experience with Databases (Postgres) and DB Design
  • Experinace with ETL procedures
  • Familiarity with of Docker; Kubernetes; Snakemake or Nextflow
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative and intellectually challenging environment. Perform the technology watch; contribute to the strategy and evolution of existing services, as well as future architecture evolution around communication platforms
  • Knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu)
  • Must work independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
