We're searching for a qualified and resourceful human resources generalist to support our department in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. The human resources generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, and will help with important functions such as employee inquiries, staffing and recruitment, workforce planning, employee relations, and onboarding/offboarding. This is an onsite full time exempt position reporting to the Director Human Resources. Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Manage recruitment lifecycle process (position intake and discoveries, job postings, phone screens, interviews, and offers).
  • Act as the main point and first line of sight for the team including operating as the initial contact for employee questions (employee handbook, etc.) and acts as the primary back-up to the Office Manager as necessary (office reception and administrative tasks).
  • Enter workers compensation claims/process.
  • Manages the pre-employment, onboarding, orientation, and exit/offboarding processes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records.
  • Track employee licensures and certifications and assist in the renewal process.
  • Plan and execute employee engagement activities/events (appreciation and recognition).
  • Partners with Office Manager in planning office moves, additions, and changes to workstations.
  • Assist in performance management and performance evaluation process.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Partners with Director Human Resources on employee relations and coaching/progressive action/investigations and attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Partners with assigned business units on overall workforce planning/workforce management.
  • Suggest new procedures and policies for improving employee experience as well as the efficiency of the HR department and company.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of HR (HR Coordinator / HR Generalist) experience and high school diploma or GED; Associates degree in HR or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience considered.
  • Proven experience in an HR role, with extensive experience in recruitment and talent acquisition.
  • Advanced proficiency and thorough understanding of HR procedures and systems (Paycor HCM/HRIS preferred).
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in Google Suite/Google Workspace (Slides, Sheets, Calendar, Forms, Docs, Gmail) or related software.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality of company, financial, and employee data/information.
  • Proactive and helpful demeanor.
  • Comfort with changing priorities and a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Must enjoy planning company engagement & recognition activities and events and participating in growing AES culture.


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer (frequent).
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times (infrequent).
  • Ability to type at least 40 words per minute (frequent).
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.


Compensation & Benefits

  • This is a full-time exempt salaried position with an expected base annual salary range $60,000 - $70,000 (Depending on Qualifications & Experience).
  • Onsite In-Person: This position is in-office at AES headquarters (St. Paul, MN).
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
  • Profit sharing bonus based on company performance.
  • PTO accrual of up to 80 hours annually with an additional 40 hours after year 1.
  • 6 paid holidays, plus 1 floating holiday (7 days/56 hours total Holidays).
