Job Overview:

The Community Development Specialist participates in program planning and development as it relates to school-based services.

The Community Development Specialist is the first person our clients meet when seeking services at Teen Guide Zone, a school-based program that resides at Abraham Clark High School.

The Community Development Specialist responds to the immediate needs of program participants as they enter office such has signing in or registering students, directing students to their appointments, and providing emotional support while students wait or if student does not have an appointment.

The Community Development Specialist must have outstanding organizational skills in order to manage a number of ongoing projects and daily tasks, impeccable relational skills in order to create and nurture relationships within the program, the schools, the hospital and all other stakeholders, and be a team player, receive feedback, guidance and instruction as the role has many demands and shifting priorities.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling
  • One year of working with the child/adolescent population

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 8-2:30pm
  • Monday-Friday
  • Part-Time

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the coordination and implementation of quarterly Community Liaison Board Meeting
  • Submits timely data and reports to psychiatry administration when requested and to the program
  • Participates in crisis intervention as needed
  • Participates in planning meetings and coordinates as directed referrals to outside agencies
  • Assists students and families with transition to outside agency when referral has been made
  • Participates in the student mentoring program as directed
  • Utilizes the parent collaborative to support program goals when indicated and as directed and keeps them informed re: SBYSP activities/needs
  • Utilizes community networks to organize school-based services
  • Develops and implements activities to promote family involvement with SBYSP
