Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital program, is dedicated to healing the invisible wounds - including post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, depression, co-occurring substance use disorder, family relationship challenges and other issues associated with Military service - for Veterans of all eras, Service Members, Military Families and Families of the Fallen through world-class clinical care, wellness, education, and research.
*Home Base seeks a dynamic and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LCSW / LICSW) to provide and oversee the provision of case management and clinical services for our patients.
*The LCSW / LICSW will be dedicated to supporting Home Base services, working primarily in the two-week Intensive Clinical Program (ICP). This LCSW / LICSW should have the desire to conduct individual and group therapy.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Working as a direct report to the ICP Social Work Team Lead, and under supervision of the Director of the Intensive Clinical Program and Director of Social Work, LCSW / LICSW is responsible for treating Veterans and military-connected family members seeking care at Home Base ICP, Outpatient Clinic, and/or Brain Health Program in a multi-disciplinary team.
*Conduct mental health evaluations and provide individual and group evidence-based psychotherapy with a multidisciplinary team. Individual and group approaches may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapies for anxiety, depression, substance use disorders and PTSD (specifically Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy); Dialectical Behavioral Therapy; Motivational Interviewing; and family-based care.
*Complete record reviews and collaborate with external providers as needed to inform admissions decisions for veterans and service members seeking care in the ICP
*Consult with team to facilitate mandated assessments when abuse is suspected (child, disabled adult, elder), and safety assessment when violence is reported. Collaborates with MGH resources (HAVEN and Child Protection Team)
*Responsible for crisis intervention and management
*Documents timely and relevant information in patient electronic medical record and case management database. Maintain expected productivity expectations.
*Conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments in our Outpatient Intake Clinic and may carry a small outpatient therapy caseload based on areas of personal interest/expertise (e.g., couples therapy, substance use disorders, anxiety disorders).

EDUCATION:

  • Master's of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program required.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS (if applicable):

  • Require current Massachusetts Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or must obtain MA Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) within 4 months of hire date.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 1-2 years clinical experience preferred.

  • Experience with EPIC a plus.

  • Experience with Veteran and military family population and knowledge of military culture a plus.

  • Training in Trauma focused therapy modalities such as Prolonged Exposure and/or Cognitive Processing Therapy is preferred but not required.

  • Additional experience in any of the following specialty areas is preferred but not required: (1) massed CBT approaches for the treatment of PTSD; (2) family and couples' therapies; (3) substance use disorders.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively and complete tasks; Able to juggle daily tasks with needed crisis intervention.

  • Highly motivated, independent, and capable of performing in a complex environment; Strong sense of initiative and perseverance to carry through to completion of tasks.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication.

  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Exceptional computer skills (including operating systems, word processing, database, electronic mail, Internet.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters discreetly and to ensure confidentiality guidelines are maintained by staff.

  • Knowledge in aspects of safety applicable to position; Knowledge of and compliance with institutional, JCAHO, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies' standards.
