The Clinical Research Coordinator II provides research support for the Department of Urology, working under the direction of a Principal Investigator, providing overall support and coordination of multiple research projects. This position will support the Department's research program which includes clinical research in kidney cancer, prostate cancer, kidney stones, female urology, as well as health disparities studies. The CRC II works closely with the principal investigator(s) and has a diverse set of duties ensuring that the study is run in compliance with the protocol and good clinical practices. This position will play an integral role in helping support the Department's academic mission of scholarly activity. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Assists Principal Investigator(s) in the development of research protocols and submits required documentation such as applications, informed consents, and protocol documents to the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the University, and/or sponsors.
- Prepares and maintains regulatory documents in accordance with UA IRB and/or applicable regulations.
- Conducts reviews of assigned studies and projects. Works on multiple research projects simultaneously.
- Makes day-to-day decisions in support of the study, project or grant. Maintains good working relationships and communicates effectively with members of the study team, multiple investigators, other research teams, and representatives from outside organizations such as sponsors.
- Develops administrative and budgetary recommendations for new projects. Provides input to the strategic analyses of the operating procedures and budget compliance for existing projects.
- Independently screen study participants and evaluate potential participants to ensure they meet eligibility.
- Explain the clinical trial to participants, consent, and enroll participants into the study.
- Maintain contact with study participants throughout their participation to ensure IRB study compliance.
- Manage clinical trial follow-ups for participants. This may include going to clinic or calling study participants.
- Complete documentation for study compliance. Maintains and organizes participant binders to ensure compliance of study protocol.
- Provide study/medical education to the participants. Independently submit minor IRB documents like renewals and minor amendments.
- Maintain information in the RedCap databases for the department including consents and data entry.
- Assists the PI in developing research designs, data collection methods, and strategies for data management.
- Design, create and revise research protocols as necessary to ensure quality data that correlates with research objectives.
- Generate summary reports of data collected.
- Orders and maintains inventory of study supplies.
- Ensures proper collection, processing and handling of specimens.
- Serve as a patient resource for concerns, education, training and information.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge and understanding of IRB Process.
- Ability to navigate electronic databases such as the RedCap Database.
- Ability to train lower level staff.
- Ability to analyze information and prepare statistics.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask using time management skills.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience working with patients in a healthcare setting.
- Experience working in clinical research/trials.
