The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states.

Our Systems Engineering team works together to blend software and hardware systems in groundbreaking new ways. We set the standards that ensure our vehicles run smoothly and keep passengers safe, then design and perform the tests that validate that performance. We're looking for collaborative teammates who'll help us maintain our focus on teamwork and are passionate about advancing their career.

In this hybrid role, you will report to a Systems Engineering Manager.

They will be working with the OEMs and Functional Systems Engineers (e.g. Power, Infotainment systems, Thermal, Motion Controls) to define the Infotainment systems and communications network architecture together with functional safety requirements
  • Write detailed requirements for Waymo embedded software adjacencies to implement Infotainment systems and communication interfaces to the vehicle platform
  • Be responsible for Redundancy analysis of communications networks, which signals need to be redundant and why, parameter definition to satisfy performance and functional safety requirements. Ensure the safety critical Infotainment systems are designed and implemented in collaboration with all key stakeholders
  • Help create Verification and Validation (V&V) plans, analyze test results for Infotainment systems and platform communications across various platforms and prototype phases. You will plan and execute tests, analyze test data, analyze field issues, and understand and resolve defects leveraging the operations team where possible
