The University of Arizona School of Theatre, Film & Television invites applications for a full time, tenure-eligible faculty position in Fiction Filmmaking at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2025. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Teach two production courses per semester. Courses may include Intro to Production, Directing for the Screen, Fiction
- Production, Writing the Short Screenplay, Film and Television Aesthetics, Senior Thesis Capstone, and other courses
- Participate fully in service assignments as member and/or chair of departmental committees such as the Screening & Events Committee, Internship Committee, Recruitment Committee, and the Scholarship & Awards Committee
- Participate fully as a member of the Production Area, including assignments on the BFA Admissions Committee, producing and coordinating events such as I Dream in Widescreen and helping to run the day-to-day operations of the unit
- Provide active mentorship to students and alums
- Pursue an innovative research agenda by writing and directing original work for feature films, episodic television, short films, and/or web series
- Actively collaborate and contribute to the growth of the program and show a commitment to nurturing diverse voices in media
- Lead and collaborate effectively with colleagues on events including community outreach and engagement and recruiting
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
- Proficient skills in film production.
- Proficient skills in Adobe Premiere / Adobe Suite

Minimum Qualifications |
- Minimum B.A. degree in film and/or television or relevant field.
- Professional expert with three or more years of recent film and/or television industry experience as a writer, producer, or creative executive.
- Undergraduate or graduate teaching experience in film/media or record of teaching professional workshops for recognized film organizations (e.g., Collab, Film Independent, Gotham Film and Media Institute).
- Candidates with development, agency, or management experience will also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications |
- MA, MFA in film and/or television.
- Writing and producing film/television credits and/or experience demonstrated at a national or international level.
- Experience in curriculum development
