Job Overview: Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping merchandise or material; receiving, unpacking, verifying and recording incoming merchandise or material; and arranging for the transportation of products. Responsibilities: * Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment. * Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials. * Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes. * Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. * Deliver or route materials to departments, using work devices, such as hand truck, conveyor, or sorting bins. * Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meter. * Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and non-conformance to specifications. * Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock. * Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials. * Collaborates with buyers, schedulers, and the shipping team, to ensure inventory accuracy and timely SAP transactions. * Cross-train to assists other areas and team members as required. * Communicate problems and solution ideas to the shipping lead and supervisor * Demonstrates excellence in completion of all other duties as assigned. * Identify red dots and use root cause analysis tools to determine permanent solutions. * Safely maneuver freight around the facility, on and off racking and trailers, and both indoor and outdoor. * Ability to use hand tools, such as tape measures, hammers, nail guns, pneumatic staplers, hoists, banding equipment, etc.... * Demonstrates excellence in completion of all other duties as assigned Requirements: * HS Diploma or GED preferred * Ability to operate a computer Core Competencies: * 1-2 years' experience in shipping/ receiving preferred. * Well organized and maintains a customer service attitude. * Team oriented and self-disciplined, demonstrating initiative in all manner of tasks. * Ability to keep material, paperwork, and transactions accurate. * Accurate physical and computer software (SAP) receipt of product and location within the plant. * Computer, data entry, and keyboarding skills. * Powered industrial vehicle experience. (Forklift and pallet jacks) * Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others. * Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. * Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
