Manufacturing Technician, 1st shift

DRS is looking for a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Technician to join our team. In this full-time role, you will play a crucial part in assembling motors, electric machines, and a variety of internal components, including piping, alignments, wiring, and conducting essential tests to ensure highest level of quality.

* Perform mechanical assembly, disassembly, and rework of various products and mechanical assemblies.
* Interpret and work from standard assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications, and running sheets, often of intermediate to significant complexity.
* Follow established procedures for reworking components to meet quality control specifications.
* Conduct testing, inspection, and repair of mechanical assemblies.
* Work independently with minimal supervision and provide guidance to other technicians when needed.
* Collaborate effectively within a team and contribute to various manufacturing processes.
* Adhere to written documents, including SOPs, safety guidelines, and work instructions.
* Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
* Interface with other departments to ensure efficient flow of materials and information.
* Meet production deadlines and uphold high-quality standards.
* Availability to work overtime and/or 2nd shift when required.

* High school diploma or equivalent.
* 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
* Proficient in the use of various tools, including torquing tools, pneumatic tools, hand tools, saws, and grinders.
* Ability to use measuring devices with accuracy.
* Basic knowledge of wiring, piping, and computer operations.
* Experience in using calibrated tools and understanding compliance standards.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and reprioritize based on operational needs.
* US Citizenship is required.

Additional Desirable Skills & Knowledge:
* Experience with Permanent Magnet Motors, including stacking laminations, installing coils (including brazing), and installing cooling tubes.
* Familiarity with electrical insulation system testing, including the use of tools such as insulation resistance testers and hipot testers.
* Knowledge of 6S and Lean manufacturing principles and practices.
* Machining skills are a plus.
* Experience with overhead cranes and forklift trucks is desirable.
* Ability to utilize special tooling, fixtures, and lifting rigs for specialized tasks.
* Prior experience in assembling large, complex rotating machinery is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
* Frequent bending, stooping, walking, climbing, and kneeling.
