Job Summary

The Office Administrator is responsible to greet visitors, answer phones, and provide additional support to the Regional Lab and other departments as directed by the Laboratory Manager.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manages and/or performs functions of Regional Lab office including ordering of supplies, accounts payable, iProcurement, limited payroll & local HR functions, attendance records, all LIMS functions.
  • Work with Lab staff for development and distribution of LIMS training documents
  • UPS duties for the Laboratory
  • Various reports from LIMS, spreadsheets and outside analysis.
  • Assist with collection and shipment of samples to plants in support of NIR validation, Preventative Maintenance and routine Biasing.
  • Scheduling and collection of data for Internal Check Samples
  • Responsible for Records retention per DAR Policy for Laboratory
  • Responsible for archiving APPI program results
  • Communicate with Vendors as needed on issues related to AP, supplies, account setup and maintenance, test results, order status or Certificates of Insurance
  • General clerical functions of Laboratory.
  • Point of contact for Laboratory staff regarding PC programs and software updates.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper flow of information via Ad Hoc query reports from LIMS.
  • Maintains office supplies and equipment.
  • Operates personal computer systems for purpose of storing, processing and transferring data and for other word and data processing purposes.
  • Responsible for being familiar with and observing all company safety rules and regulations; recognizes that safety is top company priority.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of office experience.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College degree preferred.
  • Experience working in management preferred.
  • Detail oriented; highly organized.
  • Ability to work well with Darling internal staff and plant representatives and external customers.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-starter; self-motivated.
  • Pleasant demeanor in dealing with visitors and receiving phone calls.
  • Good math and computer skills.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods.
  • Occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
  • Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in an office or in a production environment.
