Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
Mettler Toledo AutoChem is seeking a Product Manager, RA for its Columbia, MD location. This position is responsible for providing the deep product expertise needed for the overall business performance of the Reaction Analysis (RA) Strategic Product Group (SPG). This position will develop and execute the roadmap and strategy for hardware and software product lines, delivering high quality sales and marketing tools to the field, and guiding projects through the NPDI (New Product Development and Introduction) and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic
  • Work closely with SPG Head to define a cohesive hardware and software product strategy that will result in sustainable and profitable growth for the product line.
  • Develop a product roadmap that supports the strategic plan guided by input from customers and field sales representatives that is supported by detailed market analysis.
Product Management
  • Ensure health of RA product lines as defined by KPIs in the strategic plan.
  • Support customers, field sales and field service to ensure RA value proposition and products are delivered consistently.
Marketing Communications
  • Support the development of best-in-class sales tools and marketing campaigns for new product launches (brochures, PowerPoint presentations, ads, website, mailings, press releases, videos, photographs, application and technical notes).
  • Support key account programs globally with high value GTCs (Go to Customer) that generate strategic sales opportunities.
Sales/Customer Support
  • Develop a strong network of customer-based opinion leaders who can help in identifying market opportunities and in providing feedback on product ideas.
  • Develop technical sales tools and provide all necessary technical sales training programs for the products.
What You Need to Succeed
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry with focus on spectroscopy required, plus three years of related experience. Required experience must include 3 years in the following specific areas:
  • Technical sales/marketing of capital equipment in the pharmaceutical and high-value chemicals industries;
  • Bench chemistry experience with real-time optical spectroscopic analysis; and
  • Programming with MATLAB for multivariate data analysis (MVDA), with advanced knowledge of chemometrics (use of PCA, PLS, PLS-DA, and MCR.
Required experience must also include 2 years of experience in the following area:
  • FTIR, Raman, and other spectroscopy-based products.
Required experience must also include 1 year of experience in the following specific areas:
  • Global brand management and international experience;
  • In-situ spectroscopy product management, including product development, justification, and margin analysis; and
  • Development and production of high-value content marketing communications for the pharmaceutical and high-value chemicals industries.
In addition to the skills above, successful completion of at least one (1) full product launch to the pharmaceutical or high-value specialty chemical industries is required.
Up to 25% international travel required. Wage range: $123,573 - $150,000.
