Job Title: Laser Technician

Location: Onsite


Job Purpose:

The Laser Technician supports Process Development Engineers and teams in developing and analyzing products, materials, and laser processes. The position involves hands-on problem-solving in a dynamic, global environment, focusing on advancing laser processes from concept to production. This role requires extensive technical knowledge and a high level of independence.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Project Support:



    • Execute assigned tasks to meet project deliverables.
    • Contribute to initial designs, testing procedures, and process concepts.



  2. Prototype and Test Method Development:



    • Construct prototypes and detailed test methods from conceptual designs.
    • Develop and revise test methods to meet project requirements.



  3. Testing and Equipment Coordination:



    • Organize, coordinate, and execute prototype/material testing with minimal guidance.
    • Source, procure, and qualify new or modified test equipment.



  4. Documentation and Reporting:



    • Prepare detailed reports and documentation to communicate findings to the technical community.



  5. Collaboration and Networking:



    • Work with internal teams and external vendors to obtain necessary materials, services, and data.
    • Leverage developed networks to assist engineering teams.



  6. Training and Coaching:



    • Train and coach peers on technical aspects of their roles, including interpreting and rationalizing statistical data and conducting design of experiments (DOE).




Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent work experience in a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of related experience, including 5-6 years of Laser Experience (required).


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience with Fixturing and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong knowledge of SolidWorks for design and analysis.


Additional Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and contribute innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in developing, organizing, and executing complex tests and prototypes.
  • Strong communication skills for preparing reports and training peers.


Quality Systems Duties:

  • Maintain compliance with all quality requirements and build quality into all aspects of work.
