Job Description

The Public Relations (PR) & Brand Specialist supports proactive and reactive media relations strategy and tactics, which elevate the reputation of the company through thought leadership, media interviews, and authored content. The Public Relations and Brand Specialist is always prepared to quickly and strategically respond to media inquiries, and contributes to the company's public relations efforts to ensure our brand and experts are included in appropriate media coverage for the organization.

In addition, the specialist is the traffic manager for brand efforts coordinating between internal teams and the advertising and PR agencies. The specialist supports the day-to-day operations for brand advertising by working closely with public relations and brand manager and advertising agency to ensure copy, creative, and finished product are executed on time, on brand and within campaign specifications.

How You'll Spend Your Time
  • You will collaborate with the Public Relations Manager to represent and communicate the organization's brand and values.
  • You will plan and execute earned media campaigns and develop copy for various media materials.
  • You will track, report, and create reports on media placements; maintain media lists.
  • You will monitor business performance goals to drive brand awareness and conduct media training sessions.
  • You will ensure quality control and timely completion of brand advertising components, maintaining consistent brand voice and visuals.
  • You will support marketing leadership with brand guidelines, ensure compliance with standards, and assist with crisis communications.
Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through a completion of a bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications or a related field of study and a minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in public relations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with financial services or project management preferred.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate in various forms.
  • Expert knowledge of the latest AP Style guidelines and best practices for writing online
  • Ability to manage multiple high-urgency projects while overseeing quality assurance and brand standards.
  • Strong team player with a collaborative, positive, and can-do approach to opportunities and challenges.
  • Demonstrated self-starter, proactive and willing to take initiative
  • Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office, media monitoring and public relations wire services.
  • Experience with Google products and traffic management software preferred.
