Job Title: Entry Level Data Center Engineer Location: Mesa AZ Job Type: Full-time Job Summary: We are looking for a Junior Data Center Engineer to support day-to-day operations within our data center. The ideal candidate will be responsible for rack and stack of servers and network devices, cabling, troubleshooting, and collaborating with remote system admin teams. Additionally, this role involves monitoring power and PDUs, replacing server parts, and handling Dell server case submissions and log management. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform rack and stack of servers, storage, and networking devices.
- Handle cabling tasks, including fiber and Ethernet cabling, ensuring proper cable management.
- Troubleshoot hardware and network issues in collaboration with remote system admin teams.
- Monitor power usage, PDUs, and environmental factors to ensure optimal data center operations.
- Replace parts in Dell servers and submit service requests with Dell, including log submissions.
- Utilize iLO (Integrated Lights-Out) or other remote management tools for system monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Configure and troubleshoot RAID, BIOS, and perform basic OS installations on servers.
- Assist in network troubleshooting, including connectivity and configuration issues.
- Document all activities and maintain up-to-date records of inventory and troubleshooting steps.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1+ years of experience in data center operations or related roles.
- Hands-on experience with Dell servers, hardware troubleshooting, and part replacements.
- Ability to open and track support cases with Dell and submit necessary logs.
- Knowledge of iLO, RAID configuration, BIOS settings, and basic OS installation.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including switches, routers, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Experience in monitoring power, PDUs, and environmental conditions within a data center.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as Dell Certified Technician, CompTIA Server+, or CCNA.
- Experience with data center management tools and ticketing systems.
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows server environments.
