Process Engineer II

ChampionX has an immediate need for a Process Engineer II located in Freeport, TX. This position will work in the office and out in the plant, reporting to the Technical Superintendent. This position will provide technical support to operations, quality and maintenance, lead plant process improvements, lead small plant capital projects, and support new product setups.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide daily technical support for assigned production unit.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that arise during production operation.
  • Enhance process efficiency and production capacity while maintaining or improving quality standards and lowering operating costs.
  • Ownership of cycle time data accuracy and improvement.
  • Manage New Product Set-Ups and Scale Ups from R&D and Marketing.
  • Perform and maintain Management of Change (MOC) Process.
  • Assist with Design Safety Reviews and PHAs where critical thinking is required.
  • Facilitates the implementation of new policies and procedures.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives (CI) to deliver conversion cost targets, unlock throughput and employee engagement.
  • Develop and implement small capital projects. This includes the ability to manage a project from conception through construction to startup.
  • Develop and implement plant projects. This includes the ability to do design work such as piping, instrumentation, controls and equipment specification.
  • Coordinates projects to effect timely, cost-effective, and safe completion within set quality standards.
  • Ensure that all design and project work comply with applicable legislation, accepted engineering codes and standards and Company policies and standards.
  • Understands Process Safety Management (PSM) procedures to ensure that the site is in compliance.
  • Participate on the plant environmental/compliance team and support safety initiatives as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Two (2) years of experience as Process Engineer in a Chemical Manufacturing Plant
  • Immigration Is not offered for this role

Preferred Skills, Abilities, Knowledge:

  • Advanced Technical Degree
  • Five (5) year of experience as Process Engineer in a Batch Chemical Manufacturing Plant
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings such as PFDs, P&IDs, isometric drawings, electrical diagrams, and loop diagrams.
  • Knowledge and experience of relevant Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations
  • Experience in Data Analysis and Data visualization (PowerBI)
  • Project management and contractor management experience
  • Strong grasp of Management of Change processes
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
