Job Description

The Channel Sales Manager for our Distributor channels reports directly to the Head of Sales and is located in Canada with preference to Oakville or GTA. Their duties would include developing and supporting the implementation of our channel strategy. This would include challenging decisions relating to the channels, tracking channel partner development, owning the channel sales target and supporting our sales team as they engage in partner review meetings and partner development activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage channel partners strategy (incl. Dist/SI's/OEMs) and annual sales plan by developing gap analysis, heat maps, and preferred partner profiles by key market segment.
  • Drive collaboration, communicate Danfoss channel strategy and focus on growing the territory and strategic customers/markets
  • Coordinate and own the channel business plans by evaluating partners performance, targets, territorial reach to see they best fit our strategy and developing concepts for tracking partner development all while considering the fit with our global partner management framework and the fit across divisions
  • Monitor and modify the needs of partner through quarterly reviews. Manage and support our growth by finding ways to enhance our value proposition to partners and growing Salesforce Pipeline in accordance with targets
  • Monitor indirect channel sales and competence growth as well as partner and internal feedback to suggest course corrections (partner mix/strategy/program).
  • Recommend new strategic partners, evaluate territory modifications, module extensions/eliminations to grow market share.
  • Build long term relationships with all stakeholders internal & external (sales, inside sales, tech specialists, management etc.)
  • Willingness to travel roughly once per month to meet with key partners and colleagues (could include international travel)

The ideal candidate possesses these skills:

Required (basic) qualifications



  • 4-yr. Degree: Business, Engineering, Marketing or equivalent experience
  • 7+ yrs. of work experience in a business-to-business (B2B) environment



Preferred qualifications



  • Experience in the business-to-business (B2B) sales process.
  • Experience with indirect sales channel coordination of independent partner networks, e.g. - distribution, representatives, OEMs etc.
  • Background supporting the sales cycle of variable frequency drives or similar automation equipment.



Job Criteria



  • High level of motivation and tenacity with a willingness to occasionally work with flexible hours to meet goal - able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills - able to manage and prioritize variable work demands including multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to interface well with a variety of people from shop floor to President level and demonstrate indirect leadership to a virtual team of sales colleagues and partners.
  • Ability to understand processes or concepts with the aim of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain high level of customer focus and responsive to customer inquiries.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • PC skills, with competency including Word, Excel, Power BI and PowerPoint
