Description and Requirements

We are seeking interns to join our Lenovo User Experience Exploration (LUXE) program in our Lenovo Experience Group (LXG). LXG leads and drives end-to-end focus on the Lenovo customer, user, and employee experience. In this LUXE intern role, you will gain hands-on experience with our User Experience (UX) team and have an opportunity to rotate between the following teams during your internship:

Next UX:

Next UX is an innovative research and design team. We hunt new UX solutions that Lenovo could deliver over the next 2- 4 years by exploring intersections between design, technology, and user value. We endeavor to uncover the best problems to solve and craft new experiences that properly solve them. The team works across a broad set of focus areas for Lenovo including the Future of PC UX, Evolution of Workplace Collaboration, UX of AI, Enterprise Digital Experiences and Services.

Product Diversity Office (PDO):

The PDO's mission is to drive criteria, development, and validation of technology in our products to ensure usability for a diverse customer base, minimizing any bias inherent in the technology and/or product itself. As part of Lenovo's User Experience Exploration Program, candidates will spend an intensive portion of their training with the Product Diversity Office (PDO). This immersive experience is designed to deepen their understanding of diversity, accessibility, and inclusive design practices and their critical role in creating user-centric products.

User Experience Design (UXD):

As part of the UXD (User Experience Design) group, user-centered design principles are at the core of everything we do. We take on complex tasks to assess, form requirements, and develop product experiences that promote good, inclusive design and an industry-leading user experience for Lenovo products and solutions. Our team of UX professionals collaborate closely with product developers, product managers, software engineers, and executives throughout the design process. We are an advocate for our users and ensure our products surpass their expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with UX research & design activities to frame, discover, imagine, and define experiences and opportunities looking across business, user, market, and technology contexts.
  • Participate in research design and idea generation activities with Next UX team, assisting with workshops, and studies to help the team learn, prioritize, and refine.
  • Participate in training focused on integrating accessibility features into both hardware and software.
  • Learn to incorporate diverse perspectives into design decisions to ensure products meet the needs of all users, regardless of abilities or attributes.
  • Collaborate with UX designers, UX researchers, and engineers to define and deliver product requirements on a roadmap.
  • Present your work to product teams and stakeholders, receiving feedback to refine your ideas.

Basic Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or have recently graduated within the last year with a degree in a UX, UI or related design field
  • This is a hybrid role based in Morrisville, NC. Onsite presence will be required three days per week.
