The Data Protection Specialist is a vital role responsible for ensuring technical data compliance, including Trade Compliance, CUI, Export, and Intellectual Property classification. This position involves collaboration to determine classifications/protection and training on compliant data transfers.

Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect
- Serve as the primary contact and liaison for technical Data Protection tagging within Teamcenter.
- Assign classification of products using the EAR, CCL, informed compliance publications, and company engineering materials.
- Analyze technical data and clearly articulate the appropriate HTS code as necessary.
- Understand and interpret regulations impacting tagging, including Trade Compliance, Intellectual Property, Export Compliance, and Controlled Unclassified Information.
- Assign Harmonized System (HS) tariff codes, Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs), and regional trade-related codes to primary and secondary products.
- Work with key internal stakeholders to review related data and agreements to ensure compliance.
- Support various stages of audits and assessments.
- Prioritize data tagging needs in the tagging workflow for all objects, ensuring timely classification based on need by date.
- Collaborate with the Information Security function(s) to maintain records of all data assets and exports and maintain the database.
- Perform mass updates based on regulation changes to ensure data security.
- Apply appropriate data protection methods (projects and licenses).
- Act as a subject matter expert for data transfers and secure collaboration.
- Provide departmental training as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of related experience.
- Proficiency in analyzing technical data, including engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with Defense articles
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient communication, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Office applications.
- Goal-oriented and able to work under time-sensitive and demanding conditions.
- Must be a U.S. Person (i.e., a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with Oracle and Teamcenter
- Familiarity with ITAR, Department of Commerce Licensing, Customs regulations, EAR, Export & Licensing regulations.
- Experience with requirements and maintenance of conditions issued by the U.S. Department of Commerce.
- In-depth understanding and experience with ECCN classification methodology.
- Ability to work with Engineering, Product Management, and Supply Chain to properly assign HTS Codes, ECCN, and Country of Origin for all fabricated and purchased parts.
- Experience collaborating across markets and functions.
