This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

Pay for this position is in the range of $56,361 to $70,452and is based on the skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.The Leak Survey Tech pay range is comprised of a current base pay range of $54,720 to $68,400 with 3% supplemental pay, which is administered in accordance to NMGC's Supplemental Pay Policy.


The successful candidate must live within 30 minutes of the Santa Fe Service Center.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responds promptly to reported gas leaks
  • Operates equipment used to line locate for leak pinpointing purposes; takes necessary steps to protect people and property
  • Digs holes to expose gas lines using a shovel or a digging bar Inspects, calibrates, and maintains, and repairs leak survey tools and equipment
  • Ensures the integrity of the pipeline system through standard industry leak survey techniques
  • Ensures compliance with all Company and regulatory policies and/or procedures associated with leak survey
  • Prepares and submits records for all leak surveys and other related documentation in a timely manner
  • During times when survey is stopped; installs sign markers, performs work with construction and maintenance crews, and/or office work



We're Looking for Someone With:



  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 1 year of related experience performing the duties and responsbilities of this position
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable Operator Qualifications (OQs)
  • Preference: 3 years of related experience




Work Environment


Field environment. May be required to work overtime and/or on call and/or handle emergency response as needed, and work at remote job locations for extended periods of time. Regularly required to walk, sit, and stand up to 2/3 of the time. Manual dexterity is required and the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, talk, and listen.May work in extreme temperatures. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
