Summary:
Responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of patients within the facility. This role involves assisting in the safe coordination and prioritization of patients between various departments and leading a team of patient transport staff.

Essential Functions:
-Provide leadership and supervision to a team of patient transport staff.
-Assist in daily operations and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage.
-Coordinate and prioritize the movement of patients between various departments, such as from the emergency department to imaging or from inpatient units to surgical suites.
-Ensure the timely and safe transport of patients using appropriate equipment, such as stretchers or wheelchairs.
-Train and orient new patient transport staff on hospital protocols, safety procedures, and customer service expectations.
-Collaborate with nursing and other healthcare staff to coordinate patient transport needs.
-Ensure that patient transport staff adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures.
-Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of patient transport equipment.
-Ensure accurate documentation of patient transport activities, including tracking the timing of transports and any special requirements for individual patients.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred

Experience
Experience in patient transport or a related healthcare field 2-3 years required and Supervisory or leadership experience 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with patient transport equipment and procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to supervise and motivate a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to make decisions and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
