East Carolina University is an emerging national research university with an enrollment of nearly 27,000 students. The University is comprised of 10 academic colleges/schools including a medical and dental school. East Carolina University is located in Greenville, N.C. The School of Social Work offers two academic degree programs, a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work. The MSW program is among the highest enrollment graduate programs at ECU and is offered in-person and online. Along with our degree programs we also offer Graduate Certificates in Substance Abuse and Gerontology and a pathway to state licensure in school social work. Job Duties
The School of Social Work is seeking applicants for a 9-month, full-time, fixed-term Teaching Instructor or Senior Teaching Instructor (non-tenure) position to begin August 2025 or January 2026.

  • Faculty responsibilities include teaching in the BSW and MSW programs (including in-person and online courses, and on Saturdays), service to the profession, university, and community, and other duties as assigned.


Contingent upon availability of funds.
Minimum Education/Experience
Applicants must hold an MSW from a CSWE accredited program and have a minimum of 2 years full-time post- MSW practice experience.
Qualifying degrees must be received from regionally accredited institutions.

  • Applicants with 5 or more years of teaching experience in social work higher education are preferred.
  • Applicants with 2 or more years of administrative experience in human serving organizations are preferred.
