NOTE: This position will primarily work from home. Occasional planned travel to the Southfield office location may be required. The purpose of the Legal Assistant - Litigation, Corporate Support position is to provide support for all aspects of the Company's corporate litigation portfolio, which includes consumer class actions, dealer lawsuits, dealer attorney letters and third party inquiries, dealer subpoenas, dealer assignment requests, UCC liens, TCPA lawsuits, employment lawsuits, regulatory complaints, vendor disputes and other corporate litigation matters. This position will also provide support to department attorneys handling immigration matters.

Outcomes and Activities:

  • Manage all dealer assignment requests, including communicating with dealers, Market Area Managers and third parties, reviewing assignment agreements, drafting consent to assignments, and ensuring the assignment is properly categorized and processed.
  • Manage all UCC lien notifications, including reviewing lien notices from third parties, requesting and confirming all necessary supporting documentation, and communicating with other departments within the Company to ensure they are properly categorized and processed.
  • Receive, log, review, investigate, and appropriately respond to dealer bankruptcies, garnishments, tax levies, subpoenas, attorney letters and other third party inquiries relating to dealers.
  • Receive, log, review, investigate, and make recommendations on TCPA attorney letters and lawsuits to ensure they are properly categorized and responded to in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Receive, log, review, monitor and report on the status of other corporate lawsuits, including consumer class actions, employment, dealer and vendor matters.
  • Analyze, investigate, and document regulatory complaints in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures.
  • Manage discovery requests, including gathering information, preparing initial responses and finalizing with the support of Company attorneys.
  • Assist Company attorneys with managing immigration matters, including providing support with submitting H-1B Visa and Permanent Resident petitions, organizing documents, and maintaining physical and electronic files.
  • Assist Company attorneys with legal research and other projects as needed.
  • Perform other compliance-related activities as requested.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Self-driven, motivated to help, and able to perform with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Communicate clearly, professionally and articulately in writing and on the telephone, including effectively and appropriately engaging with Market Area Managers, dealers, attorneys and other third parties.
  • Review and analyze contracts and other legal documents.
  • Remain positive, professional, determined, calm and focused when faced with challenging situations.
  • Work independently and in a team environment.
  • Organized, with an ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple requests with strong attention to detail while meeting all deadlines.
  • Demonstrate strong research and analytical skills.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum three years of recent and relevant experience within a compliance-oriented or legal environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of products

Preferred:

  • Experience handling dealer requests
  • Experience handling legal or regulatory consumer complaints
  • Bachelor's Degree

Targeted Compensation: $26.79 - $35.72/hour plus annual bonus
