Position Overview: Highway Design Leader

Our client is seeking a Highway Design Leader to join their team at the FDOT Corridors Program Office (CPO) in Celebration, FL. This embedded position requires the candidate to report to the office five days a week and assist in delivering one of the state's highest-profile infrastructure projects, the Moving I-4 Forward program.

Responsibilities:




  • Provide professional engineering consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of diverse projects.



  • Develop and evaluate engineering reports, plans, and specification criteria.



  • Coordinate with a multidisciplinary project team, including client communication, proposal coordination, marketing, presentations, and other related activities.



  • Prepare specifications, scaled drawings, and proposals, ensuring the final plans meet approval standards for materials and construction.



  • Meet with clients to determine project objectives and requirements.



  • Review junior staff's work for technical accuracy and provide guidance to other professionals and technicians.



  • Perform quality control reviews, field reviews, and observations of ongoing construction projects.



  • Review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments, and manage or lead a team to complete projects.



Qualifications:




  • Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.



  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in good standing.



  • Knowledgeable in federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and ordinances.



  • Proficiency in production software and construction document production.



  • Proven ability to address challenging issues in a professional manner and lead teams to successful project delivery.



  • Experience working on major projects or multiple moderate-sized projects and providing technical guidance to junior staff.



  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, contractors, and team members.
