Position Description

Directs and coordinates activities of the production team to ensure key objectives are achieved. The key objectives are categorized into five main areas - Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People. Working alongside other key team members is essential to accomplishing these objectives.
The Production Manager is expected to motivate and inspire their team by creating an environment that promotes positive communication, encourages cohesiveness of team members, and is an active participant in the day to day requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manages the orderly, efficient, and safe receiving, inspecting, preparing, hanging, packaging, and shipping of customers' product for all shifts
  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations and establish priorities & sequences for product processing
  • Reviews production reports and resolves production problems to prevent operational delays
  • Review the production schedule and respond to the Customer Service Representatives in a timely fashion when 1) daily production capacity is equaled or exceeded, 2) expedited orders arrive, or 3) order rates require operational adjustments
  • Develops or revises standard production practices & work instructions and observes workers to ensure compliance with practices & instructions
  • Lead and develop teams that focus on Safety, 6S / 5S, production improvement initiatives using continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Coordinates daily production schedule meeting and ensures shift to shift continuity through effective communication
  • Manage and develop direct reports
  • Works alongside Human Resources Manager for continued support and development of the team
  • Manages Shift Supervisors & the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor who supervise a total of 25-55
  • employees in the Production Department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Required Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or 6 years related experience and/ortraining; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • General knowledge of SAP
  • Familiarization with ISO 9000 standards
  • Excellent understanding of Lean Manufacturing Methodologies, 80/20, Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement tools
  • Follows policies and procedures; Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; Supports organization's goals and values.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk talk or hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
