Our Technology, Marketing & Products Engineering team is responsible for innovating and maintaining a massive distributed systems engineering platform that ships hundreds of features to production for tens of millions of users across all industries every day! Salesforce has immediate opportunities for very dedicated Distributed Systems Software Developers who want their lines of code to have significant and measurable positive impact for users, the company's bottom line and the industry. You will need deep experience with concurrency, large scale systems, proficiency with solving real-world data management challenges, a strong understanding of how to architect solutions that are highly available, and a proven ability to design, develop, and optimize the core back-end systems. This role will encompass architecture, design, implementation, and testing to ensure we build products right and release them with high quality.

This team focuses on building high scale Orchestration platform, which is used by multiple Salesforce teams. And the role involves innovating, implementing on Salesforce Infrastructure as well as public cloud.

YOUR IMPACT:

  • Experience designing, developing, debugging, and managing large, resilient distributed systems in the cloud.
  • Take ownership of services, with experience in balancing live-site management, feature delivery, and the retirement of technical debt.
  • Resolve complex technical issues and drive innovations to improve system security, availability, resilience, efficiency, compliance, and maintainability.
  • Passionate about building reliable, self-healing, and automated systems on unreliable hardware.
  • Skilled at driving and delivering incremental functionality on a regular cadence, leveraging data-driven feedback loops in an agile environment.
  • Use software engineering best practices to ensure high-quality team deliverables, including automation, spikes, and clear, reusable technical documentation.
  • Play a pivotal role in shaping the vision, design, and roadmap for high-impact cloud-native services while driving innovations to resolve technical issues and improve maintainability.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in software engineering.
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) paradigms and proficiency with at least one OOP language (e.g., Python, Java, Go).
  • Strong experience in architecting, developing, and deploying backend APIs on public cloud-based infrastructure
  • Experience writing REST/gRPC APIs and working with databases.
  • In-depth understanding of design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and concurrency.
  • Good knowledge of database technologies.
  • Understanding of large-scale infrastructure-as-a-service platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, OpenStack).
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Spinnaker, and related technologies.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Ability to use telemetry and metrics to drive operational excellence.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to value team success beyond personal contributions.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Public cloud engineering on GCP, AWS, Alibaba and/or Azure platforms
  • Experience using SQL and/or NoSQL datastores e.g. Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, etc
  • Experience with container orchestration systems Kubernetes, Docker, Helios, Fleet or Mesos
  • CI/CD experience with Jenkins

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $172,000 to $276,100. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
