About the Role: We are looking for a Lab Engineer to join the Fabrics R&D lab team. This commitment will focus on executing the R&D lab asset strategy, designing and validating (IQ/OQ/PQ/TMV) new equipment and test methods, as well as ensuring the most appropriate capabilities are identified and employed across the development labs.

This role will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits:



  • $83,000 - $93,000per year

Responsibilities:



  • Aid in the execution of the R&D lab asset strategy
  • Assess and input into the refinement and upkeep of the R&D CAPEX strategy
  • Identify off-the-shelf equipment to support testing needs
  • Partner with cross functional teams as a project champion to manage capital projects, design new equipment, and develop specifications for new machine designs
  • Be willing to flex across business units to ensure most critical opportunities are supported and resourced
  • Create, modify, and validate test methods used to support business critical decisions in the product development life cycle
  • Participate and drive root cause evaluations where necessary to help improve lab equipment, methods, and processes
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and risk assessments, and partner with leader and EH&S associates to proactively maintain a safe and clean laboratory work environment
  • Be effective and efficient with using time management skills to balance multiple and diverse test requests

Required Qualifications:



  • BA/BS degree in Engineering/Science field with a minimum of 2 years experience supporting assets, test methods, or validation activities
  • Formal machine design training and functional experience designing and modifying equipment in either Solidworks and/or AutoCAD
  • Comfort with hands-on work including the use, maintenance, and repair of testing equipment and comfort with the use of basic hand tools and measurement tools
  • Strong time management and communication skills
  • Project management and experience creating and executing to a project timeline
  • Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and as part of the team
  • Statistical software experience and experience executing DOE's, EMP's, and Gauge R&R's
  • Demonstrated ability to design and follow detailed external compendia such as ISO, AATCC, ASTM, etc
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs
  • Ability to travel up to 5%



Desired Qualifications:



  • Experience working with rolled goods or laminates
  • Experience working in an R&D setting
