Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to all the duties of the regular classification as a CNC Machinist, the GBE Machining Team Leader responsibilities will be, but not limited to:

* Operate and set-up machines as requested and/or needed.
* Direct the daily activities of Operators and Machinists, as requested by Supervisor or Manager.
* Verify designated areas of responsibility continually meet the housekeeping and 5S standards.
* Ensure employees are wearing the proper PPE and adhering to the safety requirements for the position. Identify and report unsafe conditions and behaviors to Supervisor or Manager.
* Verify Machinists and Operators are working to a high standard of workmanship and machining best practice.
* Verify employees are complying with company policy, including but not limited to allotted break times, staggering of breaks, personal cell phone use policy, etc. Elevate any non-compliance immediately to Supervisor or Manager.
* Provide employee performance feedback to Supervisor or Manager as requested.
* Perform training and/or monitor employee training and OJT completion status to ensure training is completed according to management expectations and timelines.
* Assist in troubleshooting, identifying root cause, and implementing process corrective actions. Immediately elevate problem to Supervisor / Manager if outside of problem-solving scope.
* Verify employees are following Quality and blue book procedures and producing conforming parts.
* Participate in creating and communicating efficient daily production schedules.
* Monitor actual production compared to scheduled production and report any variances immediately according to escalation process. Verify causes for throughput below target are accurately documented and communicated.
* Assist in identifying and communicating staffing needed to meet production requirements, and coordinate with team members to ensure adequate staffing coverage. Contact off duty employees for coverage according to policy, if necessary.
* Conduct shift handoffs and startup meetings as requested.
* When requested, ensure line walk boards are updated and accurately represent operating status and constraints.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
* Team Leader performance will be evaluated based on his/her team's performance compared to goal.

Working conditions

* Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment.
* Constant exposure to moderate noise.
* Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, and hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.

Physical Requirements

* Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.
* Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat climb, kneel, twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis for twelve hours a day.
* Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, power grasping, pushing and pulling of materials and fine manipulation.
* Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level is frequently performed on a continuous basis.
* Must be able to operate a variety of material handling equipment such as industrial forklifts.
* Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
* Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
* Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, and hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.

Additional Requirements

* Must be able to work scheduled shift Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Ability to work holidays, weekends and overtime as scheduled.
* Must have completed 90-day introductory period.
* Must have been in current position for a minimum of six (6) months.
* Must be Level 2 machinist or above.
* Must be in good standing - no written or final level corrective actions.
* Must be a prior machinist.
* Prior experience as a team lead preferred.
