Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) calculation includes AAMC salary benchmarks for Cardiac Surgery ranging from $625,914 to $1,352,952. The posted UC salary scales set the base pay determined by ran and/or step at appointment. This position includes in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides eligibility for additional compensation.

Position description

The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time faculty member for a leadership role in the Division of Cardiac Surgery. This position will be in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor or the Professor of Clinical 'X' Series at the Associate or Full Professor Level.

Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service.

Criteria for Professor of Clinical 'X' Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is an essential criteria for appointment in this series.

The successful candidate should have leadership experience and skills in cardiac surgery with demonstrated expertise in clinical practice and teaching. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with training, qualifications, and experience. The candidate should have demonstrated abilities in delivering patient care in an academic clinical setting, teaching residents, fellows, and medical students and providing service to the University. Candidates are welcome to discuss how their past experiences and expertise will help them serve the diverse populations of the University of California, Irvine, in research, teaching, service and clinical care.

Candidates should have an MD/DO or equivalent with board certification. A California medical license and current DEA are required at the time of hire.
