What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking an Office Management Assistant (OMA) to join our team supporting the Range Manager and his delegates, with duties as directed at the Tonopah Test Range (TTR). This position will provide general administrative support services to the TTR Range Manager, other Sandia personnel, range visitors and sub-contractors, and assigned Range Operations and Maintenance Contractor personnel. The successful candidate will work with a dynamic group of field test and mission support personnel to ensure the successful completion of the Laboratories' flight test missions. Members of this team are responsible to the Range Manager for activities that maintain the Range's suite of instrumentation in a test ready status. Each team member is responsible for following established range processes and procedures to ensure that all compliance requirements regarding the operation, facilities and infrastructure are met with quality. Incorporation of all corporate safety and work planning processes are inherent in this activity.

Note: This position is located at the Tonopah Test Range (TTR), near Tonopah, NV. Applicants must have the ability and willingness to domicile within 30 minutes of the town of Tonopah, NV, and work at a remote site location for 4 days per week and work independently and as well as part of a team. This is not a virtual position.

You will work with and support a dynamic group of field test support personnel to ensure the successful completion of the Laboratories flight test mission. Members of this team are responsible to the Range Manager for activities that maintain the Range's suite of instrumentation in a test ready status. Assisting in the development of future range processes and procedures is integral in the responsibilities of each team member. Each team member is responsible for following established range guidance to ensure that all compliance requirements regarding the operation, facilities and infrastructure are met with quality. Incorporation of all corporate safety and work planning processes are inherent in this activity. Must be capable of and demonstrate behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values.

On any given day, you may be called on to:



  • Range visitor reception, answering phones, meals, and lodging administration.

  • Dormitory maintenance coordination, mail distribution.

  • Vehicle fleet and travel manifest preparation.

  • Calendar and meeting coordination/scheduling.

  • Property inventory and accountability coordination.

  • Procurement support executing just-in-time (JIT) purchases.

  • Monitoring, coordinating, and scheduling organizational training on/off site.

  • Supporting multiple visitor groups several times a year for specific events.

  • Other functions may be included, as required by Range requirements.

    Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite in Tonopah, NV. Some travel is required for this position.



Salary Range:

$51,800 - $83,000

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:



  • Willingness and ability to reside locally in or near Tonopah, NV (within 30 minutes).

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Three years or more of directly relevant administrative support experience.

  • Proven excellent written and verbal-communication skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft office programs and common office machines.

  • Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills, including teamwork, time management, initiative, conflict resolution, ability to take instruction, and critical problem-solving skills.



Qualifications We Desire:



  • Post-high school education and/or other administrative training.

  • Ability and willingness to work under structured administrative processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in team and autonomous settings in a dynamic work environment while demonstrating a professional attitude.

  • Willingness to accept a wide variety of assignments and tasks.

  • Knowledge of Tonopah Test Range operations.

  • Basic property management and/or procurement experience.

  • Experience working on a remote site.

  • Current or prior DOE L or Q clearance or DOD equivalent (i.e., Secret or Top Secret clearance).



About Our Team:

Department 2235 is charged with the operation of the Tonopah Test Range. The TTR team is responsible for planning and executing the Flight Test portion of the Stockpile Surveillance program. Additionally, a requirement exists to plan and execute tests in support of other Federal Agencies.

Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
